The Scottish Empty Homes Partnership (SEHP) has today published new guidance setting out how some of Scotland’s 42,000+ long-term empty homes can be used to help to tackle Scotland’s housing emergency.
Scotland is facing a housing emergency. A chronic shortage of housing is leading to increasing numbers of people in temporary accommodation and longer housing waiting lists. At the same time, the country has 42,865 long-term empty homes and a further 24,287 second homes, often in areas where there is a high demand for housing.
A wide range of stakeholders, from climate campaigners to housing charities, have given their backing to Humza Yousaf’s bold and progressive plans for government.
