After scarbrough pushed down a student with special needs. Caleb says that student. 15year old christian suarez, really started the whole conflict by refusing to move to the front of the bus. The bus driver came back towards christian and told him to go up front with him. So christian acted like he was going to. He stood up and then he threw his book at him. It was like a notebook. But caleb says the driver went too far. The bus driver turned around and said dont throw stuff at me. And then christian yells a profanity at him. And after that the bus driver says dont talk to me that way and he ripped him out of his seat and like hit him across the face. Thats when caleb stood up for the other boy. I like didnt think it was right. I was scared but like i knew what should be done and nobody else seemed to be doing it at the time. First on 13. Friends and family are mourning the loss of a des moines woman, killed in a bus crash. When they called her bus, i know she was excited. She was the first one in line, hopped on the bus, all three of us gave her a hug and said you know we love you, she said she was gonna call once her bus got in but. Never came. That was the brother of 21 year old Nicole Underwood. She died earlier this week after the bus she was riding in crashed near chicago. The bus driver told police he swerved when a truck cut into his lane, then lost control. Four others were hurt. Underwood was a student at the university of iowa. Pursuing a career in social work. Her aunt says she was enthusiastic about helping others. Its a legacy to be continued. If you can if you have the means helpful to others, thats who she was and thats who she would want you to be if you had the means to do it and it doesnt, you dont have to do it money. Were talking about court avenue in des moines. Where police say they dont have the resources to keep officers patroling one area. We know that thats an area where we need to pay extra attention to and we usually do. It happens that way. Its just right now, with using on duty officers, were kind of in a position where we have to do it as the calls for service would allow. A Fatal Shooting last month prompted calls for extra Police Officers in the area. The department was planning to take action. But has run out of funding to do so.
