Italy's interior minister said there had been no confirmed deaths in a landslide on Saturday on the holiday island of Ischia, despite earlier reports of eight deaths.
"At the moment, there are no confirmed deaths," Matteo Piantedosi said during a visit to emergency services helping coordinate the rescue, adding that the situation was evolving.
As per earlier reports, quoting the infrastructure minister, at least eight people had reportedly died in a landslide triggered by heavy rains on the island.
Monsoon-triggered flash floods and landslides have wreaked havoc in Nepal and claimed more than 35 lives and displaced thousands in the past week.
In the worst hit north-west Karnali province, thousands of residents were evacuated after their houses were destroyed.
Officials are still searching for missing 22 people across the province, even though they have been facing difficulty in carrying out rescue operations in the mountainous region amid the inclement weather.
At least 14 people have died while more than 60 are feared buried after a rain-induced landslide wept a railway construction camp, where the workers were sleeping in a makeshift camp, in India’s northeast Manipur state.
The incident took place at Tupul yard railway construction camp in Noney district on Wednesday night. Around 20 people were rescued from the rubble on Thursday morning, while officials are racing against time to find more buried people.
