Google has kickstarted an ambitious redesign of its popular Android TV software, bringing the design and smart features introduced with its all-new Chromecast with Google TV device last year to millions of TVs already set up in people’s homes. Google TV packs a truckload more features than its predecessor, Android TV, and helps the software fend off competition from the likes of Amazon’s Fire TV, and Apple TV.

Google is rolling an update for the Android TV that brings a new user interface (UI) akin to the UI on the Google Chromecast with Google TV. The new Android TV interface has three new tabs at the top of the screen while the main Home tab has favourite apps shortcut that looks similar to favourite app bar on the Google TV and the new Amazon Fire TV UI. Alongside the Home tab, users can also access the Discover and Apps tabs. In contrast, the Google TV that debuted with the latest Chromecast in September 2020 has six tabs For You, Live, Movies, Shows, Apps, and Library. The latest development was shared by Google in blog post.

Google has announced a new Android TV interface update for TVs running Android software. The new interface looks strikingly similar to the new Google TV interface which is equipped on the new Chromecast 3rd Generation.
Google started the rollout for the new three-tab look 2 days back in the US, Australia, Canada, Germany, and France. It ll come to more countries in the coming weeks as per Google. The new UI retains the Voice Search and Google Assistant on the top left corner but the sidebar where the Play Next, Apps, and recommendations from other apps existed, are now gone. All of this has now moved to the top with three new tabs: Home, Discover, and Apps.
Washington [US], February 5 (ANI): The latest update to Android TV, which is a version of the Android operating system developed by Google, has turned the software into a near-clone of Google TV. This latest update will make the transition from one OS to the other much easier.
