Gov. Mike DeWine
Gov. Mike DeWine announced that he plans to end all of the state s health orders on Wednesday, June 2, as cases and hospitalization decline and vaccination numbers go up. It s time to end the health orders. It s been a year, DeWine said during a 5:30 p.m. address on Wednesday, May 12. You have followed the protocols. You have done what we have asked. You have bravely fought this virus.
Private businesses and schools that opt to continue masking requirements will be able to enforce those measures even after the health orders have been lifted, DeWine said.

U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers will leave Congress to become president and CEO of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
The Ohio Chamber of Commerce will have a new CEO and Ohio s delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives eventually will have a new member.
The chamber on Monday, April 19, announced it has hired U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers, a Republican who represents a district around Columbus, as its next president and CEO, effective May 17.
Stivers, 56, will succeed Andrew E. Doehrel, who is retiring and has held the chamber s top job since 1993. In accepting the chamber job, Stivers will resign from the House. It also takes him out of the already crowded 2022 U.S. Senate primary on the GOP side to replace the retiring Rob Portman of Cincinnati.
