ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Ten people have applied for the Alexandria Police Chief’s position but the city’s Fire and Police Civil Service Board has accepted only eight of the applications.
The new chief will replace former Chief Jerrod King, who left the department in November. The city appointed Capt. Ronney Howard to Interim Police Chief at the end of last year,
In December, the board voted to extend the application deadline after only four applicants were submitted and all came from within the department. The city asked for the extension to try to get a broader range of applicants to choose from.
