OSCEOLA COUNTY, MI – A former Osceola County sheriff’s deputy was sentenced to prison on child-sexually abusive activity and drug charges.
Andrew Wernette, 39, of Reed City, was sentenced this week by Osceola County Circuit Judge Scott Hill-Kennedy after pleading guilty to multiple charges.
“This defendant took advantage of the position he held as a law enforcement officer to obtain various drugs for his personal use and engaged in extremely disturbing acts that exploited minors,” state Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a statement.

We hear about sex crimes and drug abuse all the time, but it s even worse when we hear it s someone who is hired to protect us all from this kind of thing.
According to FOX 17, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel prosecuted 39-year-old Andrew Wernette of Reed City for 9 counts of possessing child sexually abusive material and a pile of felony drug crimes. He will serve concurrent sentences all on of the counts against him.

Andrew Wernette of Reed City appeared in court Tuesday.
He received concurrent sentences for 9 counts against him.
Back in September, police obtained a search warrant and found more than 100 images and video of children on Wernette’s phone and computer.
They also discovered morphine and OxyContin that Wernette possessed illegally.
Wernette has been sentenced for each of the following:
Two counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity, a 25-year felony;
Sentenced to three years, four months to 25 years for each count
Using a computer to commit a crime, a 20-year felony;
Sentenced to three years, four months to 25 years

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Michigan (WNEM) A former Osceola County sheriff’s deputy was sentenced to prison for child sex crimes.
Andrew Wernette, 39, of Reed City, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime, aggravated possession of child sexually abusive activity, distributing or promoting child sexually abusive material, larceny in a building, possession of a controlled substance – morphine, possession of a controlled substance – OxyContin, and maintaining a drug house.
Wernette was sentenced on Tuesday in Osceola County 49th Circuit Court. Judge Scott Hill-Kennedy ordered all counts to be served concurrently. In addition, Wernette must register as a tier two sex offender.
