of the crimes involving those guns. problem is, there s no way to know how many of gates guns are still on the street. the atf says it can t trace them until they re used in a crime and recovered. this room is where the atf in chicago stores some of the illegal guns it s recovered off the street. over the last few years, agents say they ve seen a greater demand for more dangerous guns. criminals, they say, are no longer satisfied with a smaller gun like this .25. they re now demanding that traffickers bring them something like this, a .9 millimeter. you can see the difference. andrew traver says an illegal gun may stay on the street for decades. we ve recovered guns originally purchased in the 70s to turn up in homicides. they can be used in multiple crimes. reporter: he says guns are trafficked into illinois from at least 25 states because there are no gun stores in chicago.
president obama and former president bill clinton all fanning out this week to prop up their candidates. ed henry live at the white house where it looks like they re pulling out all the stops, but it looks like in the house, there may be an unstoppable republican tide. they know the house is going to be particularly tough to defend if 39 seats, essentially, going to decide control 30, 40 seats. and the senate is focusing a lot of their energies because they realize the house is going to be an uphill battle. big day for vice president joe biden. he s going to be hitting three big senate races. he s going to be going to washington state, california, and then sleeping in nevada for an event tomorrow for senate majority leader harry reid. president obama going out, hitting those same three states later this week. it shows you that the white house strategy is sort of to try to build a fire wall out west. they believe control of the u.s. senate will very likely come down to the f
