On Wednesday, protesters demonstrating against the certification of the Electoral College by Congress breached the capital building, resulting in hours of chaos, the building to be locked down and the deaths of four protesters – one of whom was shot and killed by law enforcement during the melee. Commissioner Thomas Graham, who started the discussion, praised members of Congress for continuing with the certification process and put some blame on President Donald Trump.

By the time you have settled in to start reading this, the new year will have arrived. Like every year, 2021 will bring with it a sense of hope, a feeling that the future ahead of us is at least a little brighter than the past that is behind us. That’s especially true after 2020, a year that brought us COVID-19 and its accompanying restrictions and regulations that kept us pretty much inside and isolated from friends and family for much of the year. Thankfully, the much-anticipated vaccines have arrived and, if all goes according to numerous plans, by the end of summer or perhaps earlier we should see most of those restrictions lifted, which means we will be able to return to lives that include gathering with friends and family, enjoying more meals in restaurants and attending numerous community events, from concerts to dinners to worship services, that bring us together.
