LAKEWOOD, Colo. â Casa Bonita could be open by Memorial Day, according to the restaurant s parent company. The President of Summit Family Restaurants, Bob Wheaton, said reopening the beloved Colorado landmark is a daunting task after being closed for more than a year.
Casa Bonita, a Mexican restaurant and historic landmark in Colorado, filed for bankruptcy earlier this month.
The nearly 50-year-old restaurant is known for its 30-foot waterfall, cliff divers, stage shows, musicians, and amusement arcade inside 52,000 square feet. The restaurant, which can hold 1,000 people, was featured on an episode of the long-running cartoon Southpark and was declared a historic landmark by the Lakewood Historical Society.

The iconic Casa Bonita has been closed since the beginning of the pandemic, but last month they announced they d be reopening soon. Then over the weekend we got news that they d filed for bankruptcy, which isn t necessarily a bad thing. Lots of companies file for bankruptcy to restructure their debt and go on to be very successful. Yet, some Casa Bonita super fans are concerned. So Andrew Novick, Casa Bonita s self-proclaimed number one fan, decided to take matters into his own hands by starting a GoFundMe page for the legendary restaurant. The goal is $100,000 and so far he s only raised about $15K of that. If you d like to donate, you can visit the GoFundMe here. I d love to see Trey Parker and Matt Stone get involved. What would Cartman have to say about Casa Bonita shutting down??
