Robert Morris' Next NLL Star is One of DI's Top Goal-Scorers

Friday April 9th, 2021 8:00am (Photo Courtesy of Robert Morris Athletics) Robert Morris’ Ryan Smith has come a long way since being a 4-foot-10 high school freshman in Burlington, Ont. Through nine games, Smith is the Division I co-leader in goals scored with 33, tied with another Ontario native in Delaware’s Mike Robinson.  Now a 6-foot-2, 220-pound graduate senior for Robert Morris, Smith not only grew 15 inches between now and then, but his role within the Colonials offense has also grown. Head coach Andrew McMinn originally recruited Smith as an off-ball finisher thanks to his box background, but Smith has exceeded all role expectations.

Kevin Rogers Living a Dream as D-III Transfer Starring at High Point

Beyond the new look, which Shroff called “corporate,” Rogers’ play has offered plenty to talk about. He’s registered the second most points on High Point’s roster behind star attackman Asher Nolting, and he made the USILA Team of the Week for Feb. 17. Through two games, he’s shot 63.6 percent and has scored as many goals per game (3.50) as UNC’s Chris Gray. “We had high expectations of what we were going to see out of him, but honestly he even exceeded our expectations,” Robert Morris head coach Andrew McMinn said of Rogers. “He’s extremely athletic and has all the tools. When you look at his size, athleticism, stick work and finishing ability, it’s really like a prototypical ACC-type midfielder.

Robert Morris to Retire Jack Toomb's No. 43

Thu Jan 14 2021 | Press Release | College Moon Township, Pa.   The Robert Morris University men s lacrosse program, under the direction of 10th-year head coach Andrew McMinn, has announced that it will retire the jersey No. 43 in honor of the late Jack Toomb. Every day that Jack donned the No. 43, he was a constant representative of what it means to be a RMU lacrosse player, McMinn said. His positive energy was contagious and was never compromised. Regardless of the circumstances, Jack was going to have a smile on his face, give 100 percent, and not sweat the little things! He approached everything in life this way, and it is a big reason why he will always be so loved. It s extremely important to our program to continue to honor his legacy as a person and player in every way that we can. Retiring his number is just one of those ways, and we will continue to embody his spirit in everything we do.
