Nature helps 80 per cent of Cumbrians deal with stress of COVID-19 Tarraby Woods at Gosling Sike © Andrew Heptinstall Eighty-eight per cent of Cumbrians believe being in nature has helped them cope with the stress and restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Cumbria Wildlife Trust recently contacted more than 1,000 supporters and they responded overwhelmingly that their mental health and wellbeing had benefitted from being in the natural world. Of the respondents to the Nature and You survey sent out by the trust, more than half (55 per cent) said that nature had become more important to them during lockdown and 68 per cent said they spent more time noticing nature.
