Mayor Andrew Friedberg provided a positive outlook for the upcoming year while also addressing how the city fared through a year of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also reflected upon last November’s city charter election and called for Bellaire residents to come together through the theme “One Bellaire.” “[The election’s] greatest significance lies in it having validated and quantified the extent of the division of the community,” said Friedberg. “Perhaps that’s to be expected against the backdrop of our national politics right now but I, for one, am not deterred from trying to address the problem here at home. Hence my theme for the coming year: One Bellaire.”
