On the Fly Sandwiches & Stuff is one of Jacksonville’s original food trucks, opening its window for service in 2011. While the food truck trend has gone mainstream with new trucks opening nearly every week, chef Andrew Ferenc has remained the preeminent ambassador of Northeast Florida street food.
For the past 9 years, On the Fly has found a home near the Duval County Courthouse serving firefighters, police officers, jurors and hungry patrons who drive in from as far away as the Beaches just to enjoy a good meal. It is a bit shocking to realize that On the Fly has become the first restaurant to have opened in the neighborhood for the past 30 years footsteps away from where dining stalwarts of LaVilla’s past such as Boston’s Chop House and Worman’s Deli once stood.
