If you follow Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by Michelin, you know the drivers on the team. The crew behind them will look very familiar, too, as will the team's presence – and it's a big one – in the paddock. The team has been there, it's just the BSI Racing name that's new.
The Mazda Heritage Collection made its second appearance with Historic SportsCar Racing last weekend at Sebring International Raceway. The 1989 Mazda 767B (above) and 1991 Mazda RX-7 GTO (below) were a hit on and off the racetrack, even adding to their racing records by taking a few race wins.
Having made a well-received debut outing last month at Daytona International Speedway, the Mazda Heritage Collection will return to action with Historic Sportscar Racing this weekend at Sebring International Raceway.
Connor Zilisch (No. 72 Hixon Motor Sports) was a repeat winner at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and Jared Thomas (No. 96 JTR Motorsports Engineering) became the first repeat champion in Mazda MX-5 Cup history.
The Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires took part in two days of testing with four cars and eight total drivers, including NASCAR Hall of Famers Bobby Labonte and Dale Earnhardt Jr., as well as Martinsville Speedway track president .
