Sime Darby opens huge car mart in Malaysia

SIME Darby Motors (SDM) has, in a huge vote in the future of dealerships, opened a 3.4-hectare automotive sales and service “city” in Malaysia that has 200 service bays, 700 customer parking bays and space to display more than 180 vehicles.
Sime Darby Motors City, in the town of Ara Damansara in Malaysia’s Selangor, has 10 brands in six centres with a total covered area of 121,000 spare metres over eight levels.
It has been developed to be ready for future trends, including the move to electric vehicles, and is designed as a sustainable facility with Green Building Index certification.

A homegrown health tech firm’s move across the river is coming with a $10 million investment expected to create hundreds of jobs over the next three years.
City and state officials gathered Tuesday for a ceremonial groundbreaking of the future home of Grenova, a biotech firm that’s moving from Southside’s Clopton Siteworks to the former Sampson Coatings facility at 1900 Ellen Road, about a block off Arthur Ashe Boulevard across from The Diamond.

Sime Darby Motors today officially launched its new automotive hub, Sime Darby Motors City, which is located in the town ship of Ara Damansara. The facility is touted as the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia and spans across 8.6 acres with an overall built-up area of 1.3 million square feet over eight levels.
Within the sprawling site are ten flagships brands that the company represents, including BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad (Auto Bavaria); Ford, Jaguar and Land Rover (Auto Connexion); Hyundai (Auto Hyundai); Porsche (Auto Performance); Volvo (Swedish Auto); as well as the pre-owned division (Auto Selection).

The redevelopment of the area surrounding Hardywood brewery’s Richmond taproom is set to kick into high gear after a pair of land deals finalized last month.
Investment banking firm Boxwood Partners’ former office at 2413 Ownby Lane and its 1-acre site sold Jan. 19 for $2.2 million to an entity comprised of Spy Rock Real Estate Group and StyleCraft Homes.
Spy Rock is leading the effort to convert the property, along with 1601 and 1611 Overbrook Road, and 2408 Ownby Lane into a 300,000-square-foot project that’s set to add nearly 200 apartments, dozens of townhomes and over 20,000 square feet of commercial space.
