Despite having already lost all chances to qualify for the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Playoffs, Khimki Moscow Region did not lack the motivation to face its Round 32 game against visiting LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on Wednesday night. Given that it was its last at home - the next two games will be on the road at CSKA Moscow and Olympiacos Piraeus, Wednesday’s game turned into a perfect occasion to grant its fans a last chance to celebrate together.
It seemed close after Khimki amassed a 15-point lead early after halftime, but when the visitors rallied back in the fourth quarter and ended up sending the game to overtime behind back-to-back triples by William Howard, many doubted a happy ending was going to come.

Khimki Moscow Region and defense have not been exactly synonymous this season, but Alexey Shved and co. got things done defensively to finally snap a nightmare losing skid. Khimki came into its home game against Real Madrid having allowed 91.0 points a contest. The club held down the Real offense to pick up a 78-77 victory for its first win since November 17 - a 17-game losing streak including 11 games in which Khimki conceded 90 or more points.
Khimki has the offensive weapons to go off - having tallied 84 or more points six times during the losing skid. Against Real, the trio of Shved, Errick McCollum and Jordan Mickey combined for 63 points - or 80.8% of the team s points. Shved amassed 22 points, 8 assists and 5 steals, McCollum tallied 22, 7 and 3 and Mickey went for 19 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks against his former Real Madrid teammates.

Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul was in rare form on Thursday in trouncing Khimki Moscow Region for its eighth straight win. While it would be an exaggeration to say that what Fenerbahce is doing under Coach Igor Kokoskov in their first season together is something never-before-seen, many things his charges accomplished in Moscow have not been seen in more than a decade.
The club had the second-best two-point shooting night in EuroLeague history by making 29 of 34 two-pointers (85.3%). The best ever – 87.5% by Panathinaikos Athens against EWE Baskets Oldenburg – was in 2009. Four Fenerbahce players posted performance index ratings of at least 23 - Lorenzo Brown (25), Nando De Colo (23), Dyshawn Pierre (26), Jan Vesely (27). The last time that happened in a EuroLeague game was 11 years ago. Together they helped the club record a collective PIR of 155, which tied the ninth-best ever in the competition and s

There are themes that can guide your selection process in FabFive Challenge. Some are constant. For instance, think twice before ever selecting a player facing the daunting Zenit St. Peterburg defense.
Other themes emerge from time to time. This week, there are two teams that may have different looks than ever before. Oded Kattash was hired as Panathinaikos OPAP Athens s new head coach last week. He was already on the sidelines in Round 20, but didn t have much time to prepare his team for that game. With a week under his belt, what might be different with the Green now?
