It is not the kind of good-news story we saw much of in 2020 – an aviation company expanding to tap an area of the market where demand for services is outstripping supply. However, that is exactly what Welsh maintenance, repair and overhaul firm Caerdav – founded by Iron Maiden front-man Bruce Dickinson – announced in October it was doing by establishing a cargo conversion facility for Boeing 737s at its site near Cardiff, which it hopes to have up and running this quarter.

World’s first Airbus A321P2F delivered

BBAM Limited Partnership announced today the delivery of the first Airbus A321P2F on lease to Titan Airways. The Airbus A321P2F is the first production of a passenger to freighter conversion of an Airbus A321. The delivery is the first of several A321P2F conversions that BBAM has contracted with Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW).

UK operator Titan Airways’ is to introduce three Airbus A321 converted freighters to its fleet, with the first one newly redelivered from modification specialists ST Engineering and EFW.
Powered by CFM International CFM56 engines, the aircraft, MSN1238, was originally delivered to MyTravel Airways in 2000, and subsequently operated by Thomas Cook Airlines.
It was ferried to the Singapore conversion plant as G-DHJH in December 2019 and will operate for Titan as G-POWY. The twinjet departed Singapore’s Seletar airport on 7 January to return to the UK via India.
