The scraggly tree, 75-feet tall and 11 tons, had big gaps in its branches after traveling 200 miles to get to the city (further than most New Yorkers had traveled in the preceding months). Jealousy and skepticism led internet onlookers to dismiss 2020 as a total disaster until a small owl was found wrapped in the tree’s prickly branches. Even in a bad year, cute surprises take place.
