Huntingtonâs Disease Societyâs Iowa chapter to host walk fundraiser on May 22 Wednesday, May 12, 2021 2:41 PM The Iowa Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America will host the Des Moines Team Hope Walk on May 22 at 8:30 a.m. at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines, along with a virtual component. All proceeds support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by Huntington’s disease and their families. Team Hope is HDSA’s largest national grassroots fundraising event, which takes place in over 100 cities across the U.S. and has raised more than $14 million for HD since its inception in 2007. “Whether our families are walking virtually or in person, one thing we want them to know is that they are not alone in this fight,” said Camille Colletti, HDSA’s upper Great Lakes regional development officer. “While HD might be rare, there are other families and friends here to support you within your very own comm

Wheatland Electric Cooperative Inc. announced on Monday that its Sharing Success Fund, managed by the Scott Community Foundation, has awarded a $1,000 grant for the upcoming Little Panthers Preschool, an extension of Eisenhower Elementary in Great Bend.

GREAT BEND – For consistently and selflessly working to improve the Great Bend community, Andrea Bauer was awarded the 2020 NextGen Leader of the Year award from the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce. Surrounded by her family, Bauer received the award during a surprise presentation in mid-February, with the public announcement being made during the Chamber’s virtual Awards Night on Saturday.
