Parents janice and john land face imprisonment and abuse charges in Montgomery County after police found their adult sons with autism locked in the basement of their rockville home. Mola lenghi is in that neighborhood tonight and joins us to tell us more about why police went to the home in the first place. Reporter the home youre talking about is this house here behind me where police say they found the two 22yearold, twins, locked in the basement against their own will in what they describe as deplorable conditions by their very own parents. The house is now condemned. The twins are being evaluated. The parents are out on bond. This began early thursday morning when Montgomery County police came to serve a warrant for an unrelated incident. Hospital oakland could take her off life support as soon as tomorrow. Brian webb is at the hospital, and it sounds as if the family is not only running out of time but also options. Reporter yeah, and today began with a fundraiser at a local church, but it ended abruptly because they dont have any money to give the money to. The court order to keep her on a ventilator will expire tomorrow at 5 00 a. M. What started as a tonsillectomy turned tragic. Hospital staff said they would transfer her to another facility, but theres no takers at this point. Unless something unforseen happens tonight or tomorrow, at 5 00 p. M. On monday it will be time for the family to let her go. There is unfortunately no amount of hope or prayer. Everyone in this hospital and this community, all the friends of the family are grieving. Its a very sad situation. Reporter there was talk of a couple of facilities in california and one in new york being willing to take her, but it doesnt seem like that is going to
California hospital withdrew the transfer. They hoped to raise money to help pay for the hospital transfer. It was cancelled after the pastor received news from the familys lawyer. I was informed via the attorney to not have the fundraiser because were still trying to solidify a facility for her and we definitely dont want to raise funds for something that is not ironclad. The family had also launched an online crowd sources page to raise money to transfer her. They reached their goal of 20,000. The web page states all of the money will go toward keeping her on a ventilator at a new location. The hospital would be willing to talk with any facility willing to accept her, but have not been contacted. We have not heard back from the attorney for the family, so we dont know where things stand. The family did not say today if theyve been in contact with the facility in new york. It happened near 5th and howard streets in the sounds of market neighborhood. This is the aftermath. One passenger in the mercedes was hurt. One of the firefighters was also taken to the hospital.
