Ukraine win men s relay at UIPM Junior World Championships Tuesday, 13 July 2021
Ukraine s Vladyslav Chekan and Yuriy Kovalchuk claimed gold in the men s relay on the second day of the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) Junior World Championships in Alexandria in Egypt.
The Ukrainian duo made a strong start to the competition, winning the swimming leg.
Heading into the concluding laser-run, Belarus and Ukraine were tied on 872 points after both sides won an event each.
Belarus Uladzislau Nestserau and Maksim Maruk won the equestrian round and posted the second-best fencing score to be neck-and-neck with the Ukrainians.
Egypt s Eiad El Kashef and Mohammed Elgendy went into the final stage 10 points behind, following a win in fencing.
