The Up North Lodge hosted an afternoon of sleigh rides to benefit Sally’s Fund. Melchiori’s Cold Springs Livery provided horses and sleighs for the fundraising event. Feb. 28 was the date chosen because it is National Horse Rescue Day. Sally’s Fund was created in memory of Sally Paajanen, who died tragically on Feb. 15, 2003. She was an avid horsewoman. Sally’s Fund offers equines throughout the region the protection they deserve. It’s managed by the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter. Visit upaws.org/sallysfund.
