Jalingo, Taraba State capital, on Monday, was in a sombre mood. You could see through their eyes the pain and anguish. From young to old, man to woman, elite to peasant, all you could hear was, “she lived a good life.”
The barrage of tribute also cuts across both religious and political lining.
Sympathizers, both young and old, flooded the palace of the Emir of Muri, HRH Abbas Tafida, where the funeral prayers were to be held.
They besieged the road earlier than expected, causing security operatives to move in to ensure free flow of both human and vehicular movement.

President Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku; and the Taraba State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Friday, expressed grief over the death of a former Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, who died in Cairo, Egypt, aged 61.
They spoke in separate statements extolling the virtues of the deceased, who served as a senator and was a former Taraba State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
Buhari, in a statement titled, ‘President Buhari Mourns Former Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Jummai Alhassan,’ signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said he was deeply saddened by Alhassan’s death.

Plans to fly back to Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, the remains of the late former Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan, have been concluded.
DAILY POST gathered that the remains of the former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general election, who died on Friday in Egypt is due to be flown in to the state tomorrow for internment.
Her media aide, Bala Muhammed, who made this known in a chat with our correspondent, said the corpse of late Aisha who is fondly called Mama Taraba, will arrive in Jalingo on Sunday for burial.

The governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku has condoled with the family of Aisha Alhassan over the demise of the ex-minister.
The governor who expressed shock after news broke that Alhassan passed away, said it was a personal loss to him.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu, Ishaku described the late minister as a woman of great courage whose death has left a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
According to Ishaku, “I and Senator Jummai Alhassan had enjoyed a robust political relationship and had kept in touch even while both of us contested for the same seat for Governor of Taraba State from different political platforms in 2015 and 2019.
