I had a stack of them on the nightstand. I would go to sleep dreaming about my next nonstop flight to San Francisco or Honolulu. This year has been a lesson about how fast schedules can change. Starting last March, all of the best nonstop flights from Anchorage began disappearing. Anchorage-Atlanta: gone. Anchorage-Newark: gone.

Alaska Airlines adds more ‘sun and fun’ destinations from Anchorage December 16, 2020 GMT Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport SEATTLE, Dec. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire/ Alaska Airlines continues to strengthen its presence at one of the airline’s key hubs in Anchorage with new nonstop service to three “sun and fun” destinations – Las Vegas, Denver and San Francisco – and the expansion to year-round service to a popular fourth destination, Phoenix. Come this summer, Alaska will fly eight nonstops from Anchorage to these destinations in the Lower 48: Chicago O’Hare, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix and Portland. Four of the cities on the West Coast are also Alaska hubs, which allow for improved connectivity for guests traveling to other locations.

Year-round service between Anchorage and Las Vegas, four days a week, will begin May 20. Alaska is also adding daily seasonal routes from Anchorage to Denver and San Francisco from June 17 through Aug. 16. The airline had previously announced the launch of Anchorage-San Francisco for last April but delayed its debut due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Alaska will compete against United on Anchorage-Denver, according to Cirium schedule data. It will be the lone airline serving Anchorage-Las Vegas and Anchorage-San Francisco.
