“The difference between registration and voting is that with voting, you queue there, you vote for the day, and you disappear. With registration, you register and go. It is a quick process, so you are not going to see long queues with the registration,” said Mantashe.
The ANC national chairperson made the statement during the party’s Eastern Cape leg of its 2019 manifesto review in the Buffalo City metro on Saturday.
This comes after the registration for the ninth provincial elective conference in Bloemfontein was temporarily halted on Friday, after a group of party members disrupted the process.
Mantashe - who is contesting his position as ANC national chairperson, was presiding over the nomination process for the party’s top leadership which concluded in the early hours of Sunday morning.
