Mumbai: City reports over 600 new cases
The number of recoveries crossed the 3-lakh mark in Mumbai city amid concerns over rising Coronavirus cases. The city reported 760 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, a drop from 921 a day earlier, and four fresh fatalities. However, the number of active patients under treatment increased to 7,397. Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has warned that the cyber cell is keeping a close eye on those who are spreading false rumors that lockdown has been reimposed in Maharashtra and warned of stringent action. Meanwhile, Transport Minister Anil Parab said that the minimum fare for Mumbai s autorickshaws and taxis will be Rs 21 and Rs 25 respectively from March 1 after a hike of Rs 3 was approved.
Anant Tare
THANE: Shiv Sena leader, former mayor and MLC Anant Tare (67) passed away at a private hospital on Monday evening.
Tare was admitted few weeks back and breathed his last today, said party colleagues.
Tare was a firebrand leader of Shiv Sena and known to have worked at the grassroot levels.
He was appointed as the mayor thrice in the nineties and was subsequently nominated as the MLC.
He belonged to the Mahadeo Koli community and was known to have actively worked towards its betterment.
Party colleague and cabinet minister Eknath Shinde paid tributes to Tare and said that Shiv Sena has lost a true warrior and his void will always be felt in the city and party.
