Geeta, who accidentally crossed over to Pakistan when she was nine and was returned to India in 2015,
has finally been reunited with her mother in Parbhani, Maharashtra. However, a DNA test is yet to be conducted to ascertain her biological connection.
Now of 29 years, Geeta, who is hearing and speech impaired, returned to India on October 26, 2015,
after intervention by then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. She was was initially lodged at a facility run by an Indore-based NGO. On July 20, 2020, she was handed over to another NGO named Anand Services Society.
