Geeta, a deaf and mute woman who returned from Pakistan five years ago, visited Basar town in Telangana along with her care-takers as part of efforts to locate her family from whom she got separated as a child.

Geeta was 7 or 8-years-old when she was found sitting alone in the Samjhauta Express at Lahore station by the Pakistan Rangers 15 years ago.
She was then adopted by Edhi Foundation s Bilquis Edhi.
Her story came to light after the release of Salman Khan-starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan in which the hero reunites a Pakistani girl with her mother.
On October 26, 2015, following efforts made by the then external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, she was brought back to India.
Government officials from
Indore and the NGO have been trying to trace her home and parents. She is currently living at the Anand Service Society , an NGO working for disabled persons, in Indore.

NANDED: Geeta, the Indore-based hearing and speech impaired woman who returned to India from Pakistan in 2015 after staying there for several years, has come to Nanded in Maharashtra with the hope of finding her parents.
Geeta was 7 or 8 years old when she was found sitting alone in the Samjhauta Express at Lahore station by Pakistan Rangers around 20 years ago.
