Calgary city councillor will run federally for the Liberal Party
Calgary city councillor George Chahal says he will run for the Liberal Party in the northeast riding of Calgary Skyview in the upcoming federal election.

Kang later apologized but maintained neither his intentions nor his actions were improper.
Jag Sahota went on to win the seat in 2019 for the Conservative party. That election left the Liberal minority government without a single MP from Alberta as Conservatives swept every riding but one in Edmonton, won by the NDP.
It’s unclear when the next federal election will be, but speculation is flying that it could be called later this summer or in the fall. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole both made stops in Calgary this week.
Chahal said he sees running federally as an opportunity to “make sure the diverse voices of my residents and my city are brought forward.”
