Xiaomi made a splash when it sold all of its inventory (10,000 devices) in just a few seconds on Indiaâs popular e-commerce site Flipkart. But it was nowhere close to being a serious competitor to other brands that had established a strong foothold in the Indian market over the course of several years. Besides, Xiaomi still had one more challenge that it had to urgently overcome before it could successfully penetrate this foreign market.

Zolve has secured $15 million in capital through a seed funding round that was led by Accel & Lightspeed.
Others who took part in Zolve’s investment round include Blume Ventures and several angel investors: Dr. Ashish Gupta (ex-Helion MD), Greg Kidd (angel investor in Twitter & Ripple), Kunal Shah (founder of Cred), Rahul Mehta (Managing partner at DST Global) and Rahul Kishore (Senior Managing Director, Coatue Capital).
As mentioned in a release shared with CI, this round marks the very first investment of the Founder Collective (investor in Airtable and Uber) in an Indian startup.

Indian microblogging app Koo is witnessing a record surge in its popularity as tensions escalate between larger rival Twitter and the Indian government on allegations that certain accounts on the American platform were stoking unrest over the controversial farm laws.
In the last seven days alone, the year-old app has seen a ten-fold increase in downloads leading to a cumulative three million lifetime downloads within the country alone, it said. Founded by serial entrepreneur Aprameya Radhakrishna who sold his earlier venture TaxiforSure to larger rival Ola along with Mayank Bidawatka, Koo has been making waves for its focus on snagging local language users onto its platform.
