Activists said that three patridges, five hamsters and three rabbits (in picture) were kept in cages at the Anand Bagh park in Airoli.
NAVI MUMBAI: Animal activists of People for Animals (PFA) rescued a few caged birds and animals which were illegally kept for public display at a park in Navi Mumbai s Airoli area on Thursday.
Officials of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and police were also present at the time of the rescue. We had recently received a specific information that three patridges, five hamsters and three rabbits were kept in cages at the Anand Bagh park in Airoli Sector-3. I therefore contacted our founder member Maneka Gandhi who then spoke to the Thane district authorities about it. Finally on Thursday, with the help of NMMC and police officials, we have rescued these caged birds and animals, said the PFA (Unit-2) head, Vijay Rangare.
