Sadie Street prepares for different showcase

Anamosa Editor s note: Due to the impending weather for Saturday, the following change has been made to the schedule: Sadie Street Singers will now perform at 8:30 pm Friday. Saturday s schedule has now changed from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The 5th Annual Sadie Street Showcase will be an event unlike any other. The event takes place Saturday, Jan. 30, in the Ellen Kennedy Performing Arts Center at Anamosa High School. It begins at 9 a.m. with five groups performing in person and 2 groups performing virtually. The groups attending this year include show choirs from Center Point-Urbana, Marion, Benton and Cedar Rapids-Xavier. Xavier will be performing virtually.

Golden Hawk Wrestling At Anamosa Thursday

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team continues a busy section of their schedule tonight when they travel to Anamosa for a River Valley Conference quadrangular with Cascade, North Cedar and the Blue Raiders. Mid-Prairie comes in with an 8-8 dual record on the season after winning two of three at Wilton Tuesday, posting wins over Benton and North Linn but falling to the Beavers. Senior Josh Wallington leads the way for the Hawks with a 23-1 overall record. Ben Meader and Mose Yoder have also gotten to 20 wins this year. Cascade is 11-9 on the year. The Cougars swept a River Valley triangular last week, taking down Durant and Tipton. The Cougars have one ranked wrestler in their lineup with Aidan Noonan at No. 1 in class 1A at 132lbs according to thepredicament.com. Mid-Prairie beat Cascade head-to-head last season 54-27.

Mid-Prairie At Anamosa Saturday

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are ready for action again Saturday when they hit the road for Anamosa. The Mid-Prairie boys come into the day with an overall record of 5-2, they are 5-1 in the River Valley Conference after suffering their first league setback of the year Friday at West Branch to the No. 13 ranked Bears 44-41. In that game, Aidan Rath led the Hawks with 16 points. Carter Harmsen added 13. For the season, Harmsen is the leader at 25 points and eight rebounds per game. Jack Pennington leads the Golden Hawks at six assists and three steals per game.
