Two Washington, D.C. police vehicles were totaled and a fence was damaged after officers participated in a drag race with each other last week.
The department sent an internal email, obtained exclusively by
Lindsay Watts, which confirms officers decided to drag race on Anacostia Avenue last Thursday (April 22) evening while on duty. Yesterday two 6D scout cars were totaled because officers decided instead of fighting crime, patrolling their beats, or engaging the community – they decided to drag race each other on Anacostia Avenue at 5 pm in the evening, 6D Commander Durriyyah Habeebullah states in the email to the department.

Hopefully their dashcams were working so we d know who won.
Police departments have been clamping down on the uptick of illegal street races in cities like Atlanta and Detroit over the past several months with the backing of state and city officials. Preventing these extremely dangerous and life-threatening activities before they take place is the key goal and the cops have logged a number of successful busts lately. But now it s the cops themselves who ve been busted.
According to Fox 5 news affiliate out of Washington, DC, two police cars have been totaled after the officers decided to drag race each other in a residential zone. No serious injuries were reported but all four officers involved were taken to the hospital with minor bumps and bruises. Doctors were unable to fix their broken egos and potentially, their law enforcement careers.
