The Monterey County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday that they are charging two people in Royal Oaks for illegal and unsafe housing on their property.
On June 5, two couples filed a lawsuit in Monterey County Superior Court against their former landlords, Nicolas and Ana Ruvalcaba, the owners of Ruvalcaba Nursery, alleging inadequate housing conditions.
It was the search for a Monterey county man convicted of drunk driving that led probation officers to a nursery on the 1100 block of San Miguel Canyon road earlier this month, where more than 200 people including women and children were found to be living in greenhouses converted into makeshift living quarters.
