GARDAÍ IN LIMERICK have arrested a man after intervening in a stab attack in the city last evening.
It happened at a property in the Ellen Street area shortly after 5pm.
Gardaí responded to reports of a violent disturbance. According to sources they saw two men, one of whom was armed with a knife.
A source said: “The uniformed and detective gardaí arrived as this was happening and saw the suspect stabbing the victim.

A motorist who came to garda attention after he overtook them was found to be driving at ten times the legal alcohol limit.
Following his arrest, it emerged that he was serving at ten-year disqualification from holding a licence at the time.
The vehicle was travelling on the dual carriageway near Sligo when the incident occurred. Gardaí noticed that the vehicle which had overtaken them was swerving from side to side.
The driver has been charged to appear before the courts in the coming weeks and the vehicle was seized.
Gardaà say the amount has an estimated value of â¬2,800,000.
Investigating Gardaà at Milford are liaising with the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Police Service of Northern Ireland in respect of this probe.
Superintendent David Kelly in Milford - who is leading the investigation into the seizure - called it significant .
He said in a statement: This significant seizure has reduced the supply of illegal drugs in our community thereby increasing community safetyâ.
