Gretchen Whitmer suggested that all restaurants take a two week pause during a press conference Friday, April 9, 2021. While the recommendation was not a requirement, some businesses in West Michigan decided to shut down indoor dining for two weeks. Bell s Eccentric Café in Kalamazoo posted on Facebook Friday that they would be closing indoor dining for two weeks. The Eccentric Café will continue to serve beer and food outside in the Beer Garden, and we will reevaluate opening indoor dining as conditions improve across the state, the Facebook post stated.
