Over time, CBS Mom evolved into a smart buddy comedy centering on a group of friends working together to keep their sobriety - Wendy (Beth Hall), left, Bonnie (Allison Janney), Tammy (Kristen Johnston), Jill (Jaime Pressly) and Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy) - while exchanging insults softened by an underlying love for each other.Robert Voets, Warner Bros. While some shows jump the shark – making crazy changes when they run out of ideas, as exemplified by the ridiculous sight of leather-jacketed Fonzie water-skiing over a shark on Happy Days – Mom, from sitcom king Chuck Lorre, effectively reversed that process, employing creative revisions that helped prolong its run as an entertaining series. BBT episodes featuring political vanity cards, “The Confirmation Polarization,” which aired January 17, didn’t even delve into politics. Faced with being nominated for the Nobel Prize in Physics, alongside two other physicists, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) decided to turn it down because his wife, Amy (Mayim Bialik), who also worked on the theory, would be left out. It was a sweet episode, actually, which touched many viewers. Yet its last few seconds had to be ruined by politics, namely Trump and the Russians, which already is in the news, day in and day out. One of the latest allegations is that Trump may have been working on behalf of Russia, a hostile foreign power. I can barely keep up.
