DAVENPORT, Iowa The Davenport Public Library on Main Street closed in December, as construction crews work on some major renovations.
When you walk in to a library, most don t sound quite like the one in Downtown Davenport.
Davenport Public Library Director Amy Groskopf hears that noise every day. It s been a little nerve-wracking to hear all the noise and know that some walls are coming down, Groskopf said.

The Davenport downtown library has closed for a 1.2 million dollar renovation project. No new space will be added to the 52 year old building, but the existing space will be re-configured.
Director Amy Groskopf says the project includes improving the children s area. Make that look a little more kid friendly and also provide some separation between the rest of the library and that area by putting some storefront glass up to give a little sound barrier, as well as just kind of contain the children s area a little bit more.
