McGuire Powers Kits To 5th Straight Win In Rivalry

Reply Now that the New Trier-Evanston softball rivalry has turned lopsided in another direction, Madison McGuire still believes it s special. That s why the Wildkits senior captain thought it was a good idea to bring back some throwback jerseys from the early days (circa 1970s-80s) for the first matchup of the 2021 season. McGuire did her best to make sure that the outcome didn t revert back to the days when the Trevians dominated the head-to-head rivalry - usually by the 10-run slaughter rule. But Tuesday, McGuire went 2-for-4 with a double and triple and 2 runs-batted-in as the Wildkits defeated the Trevians for the fifth time in a row, this time by a 9-3 margin.

Softball Squad Moves On Without Hurler Chambers

Reply Give Amy Gonzales the top pick in a fantasy softball draft and the Evanston coach wouldn t have a problem choosing Molly Chambers. But the once-in-a-lifetime pitcher for the program didn t get to play her senior year and now the Wildkits have to move on without her. The coronavirus pandemic wiped out the spring season for every high school sport in 2020, robbing Chambers - now pitching at Princeton University - of a chance to perform in the circle about 20 more times for ETHS where she already owned the school career records for victories, strikeouts and earned run average. Subscribe Chambers emergence was especially critical as the Wildkits captured rare conference and regional championships during her career. For years, the Kits lacked a stopper in the circle as feeder programs struggled to produce talent at that critical position in the fast-pitch game.
