DEAR MAYO CLINIC: I developed bunions in my teens, and they have grown over the years. Now I cannot wear shoes without some discomfort. Over the past few months, I’ve noticed throbbing from the bunion on my left foot, although the one on my right foot is fine. My friend who had a bunion surgery said the surgery is invasive, and I’m concerned since I am an active person. Is surgery the only treatment option?

Broward Sheriff Greg Tony faces growing pressure about his past as two court cases proceed

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. A second team of lawyers is urging a Broward judge to force Sheriff Gregory Tony to answer whether he was ever charged as an adult with a felony, intensifying questions about his past that have dogged him for the past year.
Tony was elected in November to his first term as sheriff after being appointed to the position in January 2019.

A further 93 coronavirus-related deaths have been announced this evening.
Health officials said 89 of the deaths happened this month; however, one of them is still under investigation.
Three of the deaths happened last month.
Meanwhile, 2,001 new case have been announced taking the national total to 176,839.
This afternoon, there were 1,949 COVID-19 patients in Irish hospitals with 202 people in intensive care with their symptoms. The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said: “While we are starting to see the early results of our collective efforts to minimise the transmission of the virus, we are very sadly reporting an additional 93 deaths today.”
