A major highlight of this year's Chess Olympiad was the stellar performance of the India 2 team. Composed mostly of teenage grandmasters, it finished third and narrowly missed gold. Grandmaster RB Ramesh was the coach of the young team. Going into the rest day at the Chess Olympiad, we have sole leaders in both categories for the first time in the event. Armenia beat India 2 to grab the lead in the open, while India defeated Georgia to keep its perfect score in the women’s tournament. On 26th of July 2022, the chess world will be treated to a unique, one of its kind chess show - the ChessBase India Originals Death Match between Anish Giri and Vidit Gujrathi. Anish Giri is world no.10 and Dutch no.1. Vidit Gujrathi is India no.3 and world no.28. The Death match between them will be held at the Dublin Square in the Phoenix Marketcity, Mumbai. What is the format of the match, what is the prize money, who are the hosts and commentators of the show, are there any exhibition matches? All of this is mentioned in the article. Apart from this we also have organized an open rapid tournament on 25th of July for all chess lovers and the top 10 will get a chance to play a simul against Anish and Vidit. Chess legends Paul Morphy, Adolf Anderssen, Henry Bird, Ernst Falkbeer, and Johann Löwenthal were star sign cancer in the age of romantic chess. With Vladimir Kramnik, Boris Gelfand, Anish Giri, Alexei Shirov, Alexander Morozevich, and of course Ian Nepomniachtchi, we have the almost 200 year older equivalent in the present time.
