RAJKOT: A 75-year-old mentally ill man was mauled to death by a leopard in Amrutpur village of Amreli district in Gujarat on Tuesday night.
Sources said that the victim, identified as Manu Savaliya, was tied with a chain when the incident took place.
Anshuman Sharma, deputy conservator of forest (DCF), Gir (east) division, said, Prima facie, it appears that the victim was mauled to death by a leopard. The big cat also ate some body parts. The body has been sent for postmortem and the cages have been set up to capture the wild animal.

According to forest department, Joru Jebliya, a resident of Dahida revenue area in Dhari taluka, received injuries on his back and legs as he was attacked by a fully grown lion.
The lion was sighted in his animal shed around 5am when he was milking the animals. The man tried to save his buffalos by trying to scare away the lion.
