With 5,406 active cases, Amravati ranks second in the list of districts with the highest number of active Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra. Only Mumbai, with 6,850 active cases, is ahead of it.

In September 2020, when Maharashtra and Mumbai reached their peaks in daily Covid-19 cases recording more than 35,000 and 2,500 cases a day, respectively the far-flung district of Amravati was hardly recording 100 cases daily.
