Nigerian startup Daystar Power to raise $100M to expand in Togo and West Africa Energy Friday, 19 February 2021 09:14
(Togo First) - The Nigerian startup, Daystar Power plans to raise $100 million in the next three years, to finance its expansion in Togo and West Africa. The funds which is a debt will be raised through five rounds of $20 million each.
In Togo, the hybrid solar power startup competes against others like Bboxx already active on the Cizo rural power project, Kya energy group.
Daystar, to win new shares of the West African market, will focus on helping its customers cut energy costs by investing in the analysis segment.
(Business in Cameroon) - In a memorandum signed on January 27th, 2021, Fongod Edwin Nuvaga, Director General of Cameroon Customs, restricted access to customs offices and the Single Window for Foreign Trade (VUCE). According to the memorandum, only users who have disputes or wish to validate bonds are now allowed access to customs offices. However, they should also make an appointment before coming to the offices.
The access restriction, the Directorate General of Customs explained has been issued to allow optimal use of the Camcis and e-Guce platforms, thanks to which users can remotely perform customs clearance operations and pay taxes and duties.
(Business in Cameroon) - At the end of a meeting with Minister of Commerce, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, the new Tunisian Ambassador to Cameroon, Karim Ben Becher, made new revelations about the direct air link project to connect Cameroon and Tunisia. According to the diplomat,
discussions are underway to see if there is a possibility to revive the project either through the national air carrier [TunisAir] or through the private sector, the Ministry of Commerce reported on its Facebook page.
The diplomat provides no further details about the ongoing discussions but the project involving Tunisair opening a direct air route to Cameroon should have been launched in 2020. However, with the coronavirus pandemic, it did not come to fruition. T
