Several national swimmers have made the qualifying standard at the 2023 Barbados Aquatic Sports Long Course National Swimming Championships which commenced yesterday evening at the National Aquatic Centre in Wildey.Among Barbados’ top junior swimmers making the qualifying standards in the freestyle and butterfly events for the 2023 CARIFTA Aquatics Championships scheduled for Curacao were Heidi Stoute (18:09.46) and Isabella Mayers (19:45.23) in the 1500 metres freestyle for 13 to 14 girls.Brennan Watson is the lone competitor in the boys’ 13 to 14 to qualify in the 1500 metres freestyle (18:24.14) which is a ‘B’ standard.Also in the girls’ 15 to 17 1500 metres freestyle, Heidi Baker (20:25.44), Kenyah Deane (19:06.62) and Rebecca Weekes (20:26.66) all secured their spots.Booking her ticket in the 11 to 12 girls’ 200 metres freestyle was Amiya Harrison (2:25.57) and Mihael Sobers (2:23.16) in the boys’ equivalent.
