Express News Service HUBBALLI: Age-old practices backed by superstition have started to sprung up in the rural belts of North Karnataka after a steep surge in the Covid-19 cases. Several villages in Ballari, Gadag, Haveri and surroundings are coming up with unique superstitious ideas in what they believe could ward off the virus.

Amidst the critical time of forest fire, large numbers of forest staff from Nagarhole and other divisions are on duty to track the problematic tiger. The issue ensued when the tiger killed two humans in separate locations in a span of 24 hours in Virajpet taluk. The next human kill was attempted by the tiger by March 5 in the same taluk. There was a window period between the two attacks the tiger should have been caught, lamented a section of tiger experts.

Her day starts at sunrise and involves cooking for the family and packing her own food for work in the fields, running the house, looking after her two young children, and running their vegetable farm and selling its produce. Growing in a farming family, agriculture had always been familiar. But it was her effort that turned her family’s four-acre plot of land in Gamanagatti village on the outskirts of Hubballi into a profitable venture. Her family mainly grew jowar and cotton, but participation in workshops held by the government and NGOs over the years prompted her to take up vegetable farming.
