The Isak-Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland, or NSCN (I-M) could be using a new extremist group as a front for extortion in Assam, officials of security forces engaged in counter-insurgency operations said.

At least six Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) cadres were killed in a joint operation carried out by Assam Rifles and Assam police in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Sunday early morning, dealing a crippling blow to the outfit formed before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls to secure a separate Dimaraji state for the Dimasa community.
The counter-insurgency operation, codenamed Operation Dugudisha, was the biggest such strike carried out under the re-elected BJP-led government in the state which has made lasting peace a priority.

The two deceased were identified as Amit Nunisa and Alota Maibongsa. Two persons, including a woman, were killed and one was injured after unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire in a village in Karbi Anglong district of Assam, police said on Thursday.
The incident happened in Kharnaidisa village near Dhansiri on Wednesday night when the villagers were celebrating Bushu Dima festival, Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police Debajit Deori told

The two deceased were identified as Amit Nunisa (42) and Alota Maibongsa (60), he said.
