Cyclone Yaas: 1048 shelters and 114 medical teams getting prepared in Khulna Star Digital Report Star Digital Report
Khulna district administration has taken extensive preparations to tackle Cyclone Yaas. Work on preparing 1,048 shelters in nine upazilas has already started. In addition, 114 medical teams are kept ready along with several thousand volunteers. Fire Service and Civil Defense are also prepared.
According to several members of the District Disaster Management Committee, the district administration is trying its best to ensure as many shelters as possible because of Covid-19.
Khulna District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Azizul Haque Joardar said 814 shelters were set up during Cyclone Amphan last year.
The Khulna region has not seen any rainfall in the last seven months. In some areas, not a drop of rain has fallen.
