Iran has sentenced to death three people accused of killing three members of the security forces during the protests triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini, the judiciary said Monday.
The latest death sentences come days after Iran hanged two people over events relataed to ongoing protests. The executions and death sentences have garnered condemnation from the German chancellor and Catholic Pope.
The Islamic republic has been rocked by civil unrest since the September 16 death in custody of Kurdish Iranian Amini, 22, following her arrest for allegedly violating Iran's strict dress code for women.
It was initially reported that Iranian soccer player Amir Nasr-Azadani would be hanged due to his involvement in protests defending women’s rights in Iran.
Iran has handed down three more death sentences for offences related to the civil unrest triggered by Mahsa Amini's death, the judiciary said Monday, fuelling international protests against the regime.
